I’ve found my way to hair happiness.

And it comes in the form of ombre hair color. French for “gradation,” my husband calls this trend “the pay to look broke look” but I like to think of the rooty trend as the ideal color for people who aren’t 100 percent happy being straight-up dark or blonde.

This trend is not for the impatient — getting the precise dark to light ratio takes time because the whole point is to regain your natural dark roots. I also learned that darkening highlighted hair is a process — because the underlying blond keeps creeping its way back into the picture. Kind of like a bad ex boyfriend. Or frenemy. Or both.

Ogy Del Rio at Muse in the Gables was able get the shade to my exact liking — uber dark on top and ultra light on the tips.

Aside from this color, I’m loving Miami’s first blow dry bar, Blo, too. For $35 a pop, you can choose from the menu’s 7 styles — there’s the razor-straight “Executive Sweet” to the edgier “Sex, Hugs and Rock & Roll.” Since its Midtown opening, I’ve racked up serious frequent dryer miles.

So what do you think? Pay-to-look-broke: nay or dope?
