BEAUTY BARS
Until recently, it wouldn't have been practical to pay for a professional to do your hair or makeup for a special night. Now, a number of chic bars and salons offer services for a song, and celebrities are catching on.
At Drybar's four locations, customers are served complimentary champagne and watch chick flicks as stylists deliver sleek blowouts, $35, or updos, $70. Jennifer Love Hewitt digs the salon, and Rose McGowan is so enamored she became an investor. The opening of Drybar touched off a slew of other blowdry bars including Blo at the W Hollywood. West Hollywood's Nine Zero One Salon offers the Braid Bar where clients can get elaborate braided 'dos for $25, an idea inspired by client Rumer Willis.
Next door to Drybar's West Hollywood salon, the artists at new Blushington Makeup & Beauty Lounge apply a full face of makeup for $35. Starlets including Emma Roberts frequent the place. The new Robertson Boulevard flagship of Make Up For Ever, popular on film sets and with fans such as Britney Spears, is a boutique and makeup studio where academy-trained artists offer makeovers and lessons in the Video Make-Up Lesson Recording Studio. As the name implies, lessons are recorded on video and sent home with customers on a USB drive.
