Brooks' Blo Bar grows in style

London College of Fashion graduate Devon Brooks has found success with her 30-minute blow-dry bar.

Brooks’ bar, Blo, offers no cuts, no colour, just 'Blo drys'.

Brooks opened the first Blo bar in Canada two years ago with her mum, Judy, offering blow-dries for 30 dollars.

Brooks, 23, was in her second year at LCF, when asked to create a business plan for her project in ‘business and professional practice unit,’ the idea grew into Blo.

The plan was to create a service where women can walk away with catwalk hair. There are three in Toronto three in Vancouver, and six due to open.

Brooks explained: “I am proud of our team, our culture and of what this business is capable of. Blo is about time, convenience and affordability; we don’t consider ourselves in the hair industry. Blo is a service that sells confidence."

Brooks enjoys speaking to youth groups, high school and university students about her story. She wants to take Blo international and will continue to speak at schools around the world.
